A staple kids cereal from Nestlé is being urgently recalled from supermarkets due to a potential safety concern.

The family-favourite firm is taking the "precautionary measure" of recalling various packs of its Frosted Shreddies as they may be "unsafe to eat" due to hard lumps of sugar. This means they may present a choking hazard to consumers.

A food alert posted to the Food Standards Agency (FSA) advises that customers should not consume the product. Shoppers who have bought the affected cereal are being urged not to eat them, but to return them to the store they were bought from for a full refund.

As of writing, the recall affects 14 different packs of Frosted Shreddies that could be bought at major supermarkets including Sainsbury's and Asda. Individual 40g boxes included Nestlé's Box Bowl Mixed Cereals 210g pack are also affected by the recall.

Nestlé has advised that no other batch codes, variations of Frosted Shreddies or other cereal products have been affected by the recall. The firm has also issued recall notices to its customers that will explain what to do if they have bought affected batch codes.

Customers are also being advised to take a picture of the batch code before sending it to customers services. You can do this online here, or by calling 008000 7890789.

Speaking of its Frosted Shreddies recall, Nestlé said: "Safety and quality is our first priority and we apologise for the inconvenience caused."

It's not the only recent recall that the FSA has shared with customers, as Baxter's Food Group has also recalled its Sliced Gherkins Crunchy & Sweet as they may contain mustard, a product that has not been included on the label.

Shoppers who are allergic to mustard have been urged not to consume the product. The recall so far covers various batch codes of 540g jar sizes, with best before dates June and July 2026 affected.
