Natalie Portman Embraces Florals in Sequined Dior Gown at Golden Globes 2024 and Talks Sustainable Fashion
Natalie Portman arrived on the red carpet for the 2024 Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, wearing a Dior Haute Couture evening dress in black tulle embroidered with an impressionist landscape of micro-flowers and vermicelli.
“My dress was hand-beaded and took hundreds of hours of work, so I’m really lucky to get to wear this, it’s like a garden on a dress,” Portman told WWD, describing her Dior Haute Couture look.

The actress has long advocated for veganism and sustainability, and over the years, has brought up the topic during her red carpet interviews.
“It’s really exciting to see more companies putting forward sustainable and vegan materials,” Portman said to WWD. “I actually invest[ed] in a company called MycoWorks that produces mushroom leather, which a lot of luxury brands are now using.”
In 2023, MycoWorks opened its first full-fledged factory. Prior to that, in 2022, the company received $125 million in Series C funding to grow its business.
Portman has been a brand ambassador for Dior since 2011, with the release of Miss Dior Chérie. Since then, she’s starred in various campaigns for the brand and regularly wears Dior gowns and dresses for red carpet events.
Portman was nominated at this year’s ceremony for Best Actress Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her role in May December, opposite Julianne Moore. The award ultimately went to Emma Stone for “Poor Things.” Portman also presented the award for Best Animated Feature alongside fellow actress Florence Pugh. The award went to “The Boy and the Heron.”
The 81st annual Golden Globe Awards, held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, celebrate the biggest achievements across film and television in 2023. It is produced by Dick Clark Productions, which is owned by WWD parent company Penske Media Corp. Ahead of the ceremony, WWD will host its first real-time red carpet digital show, co-hosted by Jeannie Mai, highlighting the looks from the red carpet arrivals.
