Nanushka Fall 2024 Ready-to-Wear Collection: Back to the Future
Since the birth of her son in October 2021, Nanushka founder and creative director Sandra Sandor has been transported back to her own childhood in Hungary in the ’90s, after the fall of the Iron Curtain, when her father would wear full denim outfits and sportswear. Before that time, Sandor’s family could not travel out of the country, but to the countryside, where memories of shepherds were funneled into outerwear, like the bonded shearling-cum-extruded-biker-jacket. (Nanushka works with sustainable fake fur made of recycled polyester.)
“When I got the first [fashion] influence from abroad, it was in the ’90s, from fashion magazines. That had a huge impact on me,” said Sandor.

She crafted a cropped, black peekaboo off-one-shoulder top and paired it with a long, double-sided silk skirt featuring a “smudged graffiti” print in rust, black, yellow and ecru. There was a reversible shearling vest, including Nanushka’s Okobor trademarked signature alt-leather.
Sandor also offered her own take on the classic tweed dress, using instead textured wool with alt-leather trim. A sartorial blazer came with crocheted lapels.
Silhouette-wise, the lineup had linear shapes, maxi and mini stories, cropping — especially in outerwear, and thin straps. She has a long-standing penchant for earthy tones, such as yellows and greenish yellows, with a pop of blue and lime this season.
“All this ’90s aesthetic, definitely minimalism, is reflected in the collection,” she said. “It’s ’90s through the eyes of a Hungarian teenager. All these influences merge together.”
