Why NYC has more than 1 million square feet of vacant retail space
So-called "ghost pharmacies" make up a large portion of vacancies, haunting city streets and attracting illegal behavior. Since the pandemic, 222 big-box pharmacies (typically 8,000-15,000 square feet each) have closed. 138 of them remain empty despite the fact that other retailers have bounced back. What will take their place? The mayor's "City of Yes" plan will help decide, but probably Spirit Halloween. {The New York Times}

Dior breached modern slavery disclosure requirements
Dior fell behind of UK requirements that all companies with turnover of £36 million ($46 million) or more in the country publish yearly statements detailing their labour practices. The brand website showed a statement and an expired certification dating back to 2020, until a July 19 update. The statement was updated after questioning by Amundi, the leading European asset manager. Dior said it has ceased working with and condemned suppliers discovered using illegal practices in the new statement. {Reuters}
