It's fair to say Mamma Mia! has won a spot in quite a few people's hearts, as the first film in the series grossed a whopping $602.9 million (approx. £433 million) at the box office upon its theatrical release in 2008.

The film whisks viewers away to the dreamy shores of Greece to the tune of Abba classics, performed by its ensemble cast of Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Amanda Seyfried.

Perhaps one of the unsung heroes of the production is the house featured in the movie, which provides us with Greek-inspired home decor inspiration, thanks to the large airy rooms and antique furniture adorning the lead characters' ocean-side residence.

Otty Tip: Classic sea blues should be used to achieve this look in the bedroom. Layer tones of light and dark blue with white accents for that Grecian look.

Bonus points for the addition of a big brass bed with treasures from your travels tucked underneath.

Mean Girls

“On Wednesdays we wear pink” - one of the many Mean Girls lines that remains a huge part of our pop culture today.

Even if you're not keen on cerise shades in your wardrobe, there is something rather appealing about the kitschiness of an all pink bedroom

Not only is Regina George’s bedroom the envy of many a teenage girl, but the pink palace's opulent aesthetic will appeal to many fans of the maximalism trend.

Otty Tip: You don’t need a mansion to achieve this extravagant look, adding fabrics will work wonders. Try adding some silk bed sheets or creating a canopy with draped silk scarves.

Grossing $174.2 million, Amelie remains one of the most successful foreign-language films in American cinema history.

The film, set in 1997, stars Audrey Tautou as a shy and introverted Amelie, a waitress living in the French capital, who is on a mission to increase the happiness levels of all she meets.

Her classic crimson bedroom, featuring quirky animal wall art and vintage furniture finds, is the epitome of French bedroom chic, with many choosing to duplicate the bold European look for themselves.

Otty tip: You can add a textured maroon wallpaper to the walls to recreate this look. Add bursts of green and blue to balance this out, through pillows or bedding.

Don’t worry too much about all the interior decor matching, this look is all about mismatched Parisian chic.

Wear your heart on your wall like Ferris Bueller (Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Paramount Pictures)

A mid-80s classic that remains one of the most iconic teen comedy films to date - Ferris Bueller’s Day Off stars Matthew Broderick as a high school student skipping school for the day, and causing mischief and chaos for all those he encounters along the way.

Bueller's teenage bedroom is a pivotal location throughout the film, with the suburban elements of the space remaining as iconic today as when the film was released 35 years ago.

So culturally important is the bedroom to movie fans, that back in 2016 a Chicago artist even recreated the bedroom for a display to the public.

Otty Tip: This bedroom screams ‘coming of age’ during a simple and less complicated pre-internet era. To achieve this classic look, fill a room with your favourite old movie posters, classic novels, wall art, and even flags.

Simple wooden furniture pieces are a must, as well as collectable items and knick-knacks that you’ve accumulated over the years.

Grease catapulted its leading actors John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John to stardom upon its 1978 release, and more than 40 years later it's just as popular.

Despite the movie being crammed with memorable scenes, a firm favourite among fans is the pyjama party at Frenchie’s house. At this point of the movie, Rizzo sings the iconic “Look at me, I’m Sandra Dee”.

It’s impressive how the small space is utilised by each of the scene’s performers. Die-hard Grease lovers can very easily recreate the 1950’s bedroom theme themselves.

Otty Tip: The girls from Grease were known as the “Pink Ladies” and this most definitely extends to the bedroom interior. To achieve this look, coat your bedroom walls in soft baby pink, or add some nostalgic pink accents through retro lampshades or floral rugs.

This bedroom screams teenage fun. The yellow walls and stuffed animals can create a calm, happy atmosphere in the space.
