Love is in the air, well, in our supermarket aisles in any case. If you happened to have checked out your local shops recently, you’re probably acutely aware that Valentine’s Day is on the horizon from the amount of heart-shaped chocolate boxes on offer.

Yet, if you’re looking to go above and beyond this year, why not make a booking at one of London’s most romantic restaurants? Nothing says ‘I love you’ like a plate of handmade pasta, eaten Lady and the Tramp style.

If you’re stuck on exactly where to book: don’t fear. We’ve done some digging to discover some of the capital’s most love-laden eateries.

From oysters and champagne, to upscale British grub, here’s where to book this Valentine’s Day.

BiBi

Smack, bang in the middle of Mayfair, this charming restaurant offers small plated Indian dishes, all courtesy of chef Chet Sharma.

The aptly-named Valentine’s Day Chef Selection includes native lobster, black truffle chicken, and rounds it all off with a pondicherry hot chocolate. Delicious.

Scott’s

Nothing says ‘aphrodisiac’ quite like a plate of fresh oysters – and some of the best in the capital can be found at Scott’s.

Pair it with a bottle of champagne and a subsequent seafood platter and you’re onto a winner.

The Colony Grill Room

Wooden panelled interiors at The Colony Grill Room at The Beaumont Hotel creates moneyed club vibes with a touch of old world glamour.

Start with oysters and caviar, followed by Suffolk wagyu and fancy French toast for a Valentine’s Day meal you’ll be reminiscing on for years to come.

Mount St. Restaurant

Art enthusiasts will fawn over Mount St. Restaurant which houses works by the likes of Andy Warhol, Henry Matisse, and Lucian Freud.

The beef wellington for two is particularly worthy of such a romantic occasion, or opt for the lobster pie if you don’t want to share.

Apricity

With its peachy pink decor, a meal at Apricity will satiate both your aesthetic desires as much as your palette.

It’s a low waste and sustainable option, which means its menu is ever-changing to what’s in season, but you can expect to dine on Cheswell Grange short-rib, Brixham skate wing, and caramelised Edel Weiss white chocolate baked mousse.

Hélène Darroze at The Connaught

Expect rich and warming interiors at The Connaught’s Hélène Darroze this Valentine’s Day with a menu specifically designed for the celebrations.

After being welcomed with a glass of rosé, dine on foie gras, lobster, and celeriac among others with its pitch-perfect tasting menu.

The Mayfair Chippy

Far from your average chippy, The Mayfair Chippy is a quintessentially British restaurant that serves everything from shepherd’s pie to steak and kidney pudding and, of course, fish and chips.

This Valentine’s Day, or week, it’s offering a three-tiered seafood platter – or ‘Afternoon Sea’ – that includes crab bruschetta, mussels, oysters and king prawn. Note: It needs to be pre-ordered at least 24 hours in advance.

Bacchanalia

With its hand-painted ceiling murals and 2000-year-old Greek and Roman artwork, nothing says ‘old-world romance’ quite like a meal at Bacchanalia.

This year, its Valentine’s Day menu centres on the Greek goddess Aphrodite with specials such as Angel Hair prawns, cherry tomato salad, and vanilla-whipped ganache with strawberry sorbet.
