These will be the most popular baby names in 2019
If 2019 is the year you have a baby, you'll probably already have started compiling list upon list (upon list) of potential baby names. So we thought we'd give you a helping hand.
Parenting website BabyCentre, using their expert knowledge, have drawn up a list of the trends they think will be most popular when it comes to baby names next year. Here's what you can expect to see a lot of on next year's Facebook announcements...
Names from kids' cartoons
Come on, be honest. Don't tell me you're opposed to watching animated kids' films and TV programmes on a Sunday morning. They're soothing to the soul. And, it seems, they serve as a pretty decent fountain of inspiration from which to choose a baby name (especially for parents who already have children and are therefore exposed to these programmes every day of their lives).
Expect to see names like:
Beatrix (as in Beatrix Potter)
Jemima (as in Puddleduck)
Chase (as in the dog from Paw Patrol)
Roly (as in the character from Hey Duggee)
Elsa (from Frozen, the sequel of which is released next year)
Names from popular box sets
Netflix is in its prime right now, with viewers happy to binge on boxsets from the minute they get home from work until it's time to go to bed. With all that brain space being occupied by TV programmes, it's hardly surprising BabyCentre thinks fictional characters from box sets could provide a big source of inspiration for new parents naming babies next year.

Aria (from Game of Thrones)
Julia (from The Bodyguard)
David (from The Bodyguard)
Eve (from Killing Eve)
70s names
The last few years have seen a noticeable growth in popularity of 'vintage' names harking back to almost a century ago, like Edie, Alfie and so on. Next year, BabyCentre predicts parents will still look to the retro for baby name ideas - they just won't date back quite so far. The 70s will probably provide the biggest inspiration for mums and dads who want their baby's name to feel slightly more unique than the ever-popular 'Olivia' and 'Oliver' that top the charts constantly these days.

Christine
Names inspired by places
Travel has never been more accessible than it is at the moment (with budget airlines having deals coming out their ears). And obviously because we're such ~deep~ people, what could be more poignant than naming your actual child after a place that meant, like, so much to you when you visited it on your gap year in 2008.

Cairo
Dallas
Israel
India
