A This Morning star who has “just weeks to live” has revealed that they have refused a funeral and would instead like to be cremated and have their ashes interred. Renowned international hairdresser Trevor Sorbie recently shared the heartbreaking news that he has been warned that he may not make Christmas after being diagnosed with bowel cancer.

Since making the emotional admission on the This Morning sofa last month, Trevor has opened up about his diagnosis as well as his experience living with bowel cancer which has spread to his liver. During an interview with The Times, Trevor, 75, explained how he was now making the most of each day.

“I want to live every day enjoying what I’ve got and making the most of it,” he said, adding that he was taking pleasure in things others might take for granted, such as watching films and eating pizza with his wife Carole.

The beloved TV personality also revealed that he plans to die at home and that he does not want to have a funeral, saying simply: “Too upsetting. When the time comes my ashes will be interred with Carole’s and our little dog."

He added: "“But I’m going to defy medical science. If the cancer reaches my brain, then I’ll accept it, but until then, I’m in charge, and I’m going on my terms.”

It comes after Trevor discussed his decision to reject chemotherapy which may have given him “another month” to live, branding it "poison".

During his illustrious career, Trevor styled the hair of some of the world’s most famous faces including Queen Elizabeth II and Helen Mirren. Speaking about his diagnosis on This Morning, he explained how he experienced severe bleeding one night and sought medical attention.

“I lost a lot of blood one night and was unusually disturbed so went to hospital. They told me I had bowel cancer and I had a little panic attack. I looked at Carole [his wife] and she looked at me, we were both speechless, didn't know what to say. So I went and had a big gin and tonic,” he said.

He added: “I had a nurse come round the other day to assess me and as I asked ‘Will I make Christmas?’ She said ‘I don’t know Trevor’. I said ‘I damn well will. The brain rules the body. The heart plays a big part as well but that is the engine.
