With Pinterest predicting it as one of the biggest trends of the year and searches for boho fashion up a staggering 9,633% at Marks & Spencer, this aesthetic is firmly on our radar for spring/summer. 'Bye bye, hippie hype, moto boho is pulling up in first,' read the 2025 edition of Pinterest Predicts, the social media platform's annual trend report. 'Gen Z and Boomers will take to the streets with chunky leather handbags, flowy skirts, moto boots and just enough fringe. It's not just a look – it's a lifestyle.'
Sure enough, searches for 'edgy boho outfits' have been spiking on Pinterest, with searches for 'lace skirt outfit', 'moto boots outfit' and 'slouchy bag' up 360%, 445% and 345% on last year respectively. Look back to the SS25 runway shows and you'll find studded hot pants styled with fringing at Isabel Marant, lace and leather at Gucci, and ruffle dresses paired with chunky-soled boots at Burberry. Chloé, too, freshened its boho vibe up with puff-sleeved leather jackets.
So, what exactly is moto boho?
Moto boho is a look that's all about contrast: imagine heavy leather jackets over delicate lace, slouchy moto boots paired with flowing maxi skirts, and oversized studded handbags alongside crochet tops. The best part? It's effortlessly cool yet super easy to wear.
Francesca Zedda, head of creative styling at M&S, said: “The ‘moto boho’ aesthetic harmoniously combines the hard, edgy, rugged elements of motorcycle style with the softer, free-spirited, eclectic vibe of bohemian fashion. Think chunky black leather boots and accessories with lots of metal hardware contrasted with flowy white skirts and dresses. This polarity makes for stylish pairing.”
The street style set and A-listers are already on board, of course. Red's forever style icon and queen of boho Sienna Miller has embraced moto boho with her signature mix of vintage-inspired flowy dresses and structured leather outerwear, while Zoe Kravitz has given the trend her stamp of approval too, layering a black slip dress over an oversized grey T-shirt for a feminine yet grungy look.
