Popular mobile network service Three has seen signal problems and outages this afternoon, with users reporting problems with their voice calls, signal, and internet.

The company has seen almost 11,000 reports of connection problems this afternoon, starting from around 1pm, according to Downdetector.com.

According to the network tracking website, Three's recent connection problems have occurred across the UK, but Glasgow is the main affected area reported in Scotland.

Birmingham, Liverpool, Hackney, Islington, Nottingham, Leeds and London have also seen a much higher number of problem reports with Three than usual. While 83 per cent of these issues are reported problems with the service's voice calls, 15 per cent of reported issues claimed their signal was down.

Two per cent of these reports mentioned a loss of internet access.

Users have taken to the website to further report their network problems, with one user commenting: "Unable to make or receive calls since around 13.30pm Thursday 23rd January. Outgoing calls not connecting to network. Incoming calls not ringing through. (East Dorset)."

Another user commented: "Not able to make calls, mother having the same issue. Glasgow."

While it appears there is a problem with Three's entire network, some users in the comments believe other mobile networks are also being disrupted.

One user said: "Looks to be more of a major incident or wider UK/Europe issue, probably out the hands of just Three if other providers are also affected."

Another comment stated: "All major networks are suffering problems and most can't make or receive calls."

While other major networks such as EE, Virgin and Vodaphone have also seen reports in the past few hours, there have not been nearly as many signal issues reported with these companies.

In a statement posted on social media, Three Network said: “We're aware of an issue affecting a small percentage of voice services, our team are working hard to fix this as soon as possible. We're really sorry for any inconvenience caused. Data services and 999 calls are unaffected, please bear with us."
