It's basically become a monthly routine at this point: Miley Cyrus dreams up a brand new hairstyle, I write about it, praising her boldness and creativity, and spend 300 words wondering how, on earth she could possibly top this new level of hair experimentation...

...and then Miley goes ahead and one-ups herself, getting an even cooler hairstyle and setting a brand new standard for cool gal hair.

Her latest hoooooly-shit-your-hair's-so-cool-Miley moment comes in the form of a Bowie style hair overhaul, where her mullet's been spiked up to incredible, 1980s rockstar heights.

Here's a short, whistle-stop tour of Miley's hair evolution over the past 18 months. Firstly, she changed the game by chopping in a mullet, timed (unfortunately) to co-ordinate with Tiger King fever. The subsequent Joe Exotic comparisons meant Miley took to Instagram to explain the important meaning behind her hair transformation, before enlisting her mum to chop it even shorter.

Then, to cut a long story short, she opted for a bowl cut, followed by an Oasis-style look, then a mohawk-ponytail, took a break and shoved it into a messy topknot for a while, before returning to the mullet life with a brushback style off-duty Lady Di look (one which Billie Eilish is also trying on for size at the moment).

You've got to hand it to her - it's certainly bold.
