As the Obamas prepare to leave the White House on 20 January, the world is watching and waiting for the First Family’s next steps.

Although many hope Michelle Obama may decide to run for office in 2020, the soon-to-be former First Lady appears to have other plans.

Since arriving in Washington eight years ago, Michelle has set up a number of philanthropic campaigns helping to promote healthier lifestyles in schools along with supporting the education of girls.

“I didn’t take these on because I was First Lady, I took them on because they meant something to me. I will continue to stay involved in these issues for as long as I live,” she revealed during an appearance on The Tonight Show.

“The fact that we have already made huge strides to improve the health of our kids through the school lunch programme is great. I hope it does not get touched because it makes sense and we have to keep doing things that make sense for our future.”

Michelle also reiterated that her family fully support Trump and are more than willing to offer advice to the next presidential family: “I will be available, particularly to Melania or Ivanka or whoever wants advice, so that they can get through this thing healthily. We’ll be there to help them as much as they want our help.”

Just another reason why the world will miss Michelle.
