Michael McIntyre labels Michael Sheen 'self-centred' on Big Show as star says appearing was a 'bad idea'
Welsh actor Michael Sheen was labelled "self-centred" by Michael McIntyre as he appeared on the comedian's new series of his Big Show on BBC One. The 55-year-old agreed to take part in the hilarious Send To All segment of the show, where celebrities hand their phones over to the comedian who then sends an embarrassing message to all of their contacts on stage.
When asked how he was feeling about the prospect on the show, on Saturday, January 25, Sheen said: "It all seemed like a very good idea when I was first asked. Now it seems like a very bad idea."
The former Hollywood actor appeared with his partner Anna Lundberg and her mother Ingrid from Sweden in a VIP box, while McIntyre took the liberty of snooping through some of his apps, with the screen's view projected behind him in the theatre for the audience and viewers at home to see. McIntyre first opened up IMDb to find that his most recent search on the streaming platform was his own name, Michael Sheen. The actor exclaimed after seeing this: "Listen, sometimes... Sometimes, I have to look myself up, alright? Because I forget what I've been in."
The second most recent search by the actor who recently left Hollywood to come back to his home country of Wales, was also notably Gavin and Stacey, a strong indication of his love for his Welsh roots and the popular series which has been on everyone's radar recently.
The next app McIntyre opened up was his notes. Before doing so, he hesitated and said: "Is notes a bit personal?" Sheen shook his head, smiling and said: "Don't do that."
The comedian ignored his plea, and found a page that was dedicated to the actor's work history, where it was later revealed Sheen had been working on his bio for one of his projects. McIntyre found it hilarious as he read out all of the information, joking: "Sorry Michael, you're coming across as rather self-centred."
He then went into his photos where he came across selfie after selfie of Sheen in different places and guises including a visit to Port Talbot Steelworks next to a sign that said "total quality", his dismembered head in Twilight and an image of the star with a fetching handlebat moustache to which Sheen joked it was "when he played rugby for Wales in the 1970s."
McIntyre exclaimed: "There was a theme when I started to look at your phone of a certain level of self-obsession. Every single one of your photos is of you." He continued to scroll, coming across a series of stuffed animals he had used for inspiration for a TV moment where a toy had to start speaking.
Looking through the images, McIntyre described it as the "creepiest thing he had ever seen in his life" while Sheen laughed along, and was later praised in the show for being a "good sport."
