Met Gala 2024: Best dressed stars on the red carpet

Fashion’s biggest night is here, with famous faces showing up and showing out at the 2024 Met Gala with their best takes on this year’s theme: “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”

On Monday evening, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City will be flooded with celebrated musicians, transformative designers, actors, and influencers to honour The Costume Institute’s spring 2024 exhibit. This year’s gala will co-chaired by stars including Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez, and Bad Bunny. Meanwhile,Vogue red-carpet hosts La La Anthony, Gwendoline Christie, and Ashley Graham, as well as special correspondent Emma Chamberlain, will be interviewing the parade of guests donning organic-inspired ensembles.

From archival couture to custom-made designs, many of tonight’s looks will explore the idea of fairytale-esque, eternal beauty through natural flora and fauna motifs.

Reece Feldman

The TikTok personality and cinephile donned a Thom Browne ensemble with floral and thorn details as well as embroidered butterflies that almost evoked a Monet painting in greyscale. He paired the tailored blazer and kilt with the brand’s signature daschund handbag in black.

Alexandra Michler Kopelman

The Vogue editor walked the green carpet in a gown with multi-coloured roses, and a column silhouette subverted by an on-trend bubble hem.

Ashley Graham

The former America’s Next Top Model host stunned in a halter-necked leather gown from Ludovic de Saint Sernin. The sleek look boasted lush sequin detailing, including sparkling silver flowers along the bodice.

Gwendoline Christie

The Game of Thrones star wowed in a red velvet gown with mesh black sleeves and a cape from Maison Margiela by John Galliano. She paired the look with her signature pale blonde tresses in a mad scientist bouffaint.

Emma Chamberlain

The influencer and Chamberlain Coffee founder cast a spell on the crowd with a gothic gown from Jean Paul Gaultier made up of ethereal dark brown lace, which included the rose vine detailing shown off in her sheer gloves.

Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky

The Thor actor and Met Gala co-chair posed alongside his model wife, looking gorgeous together in their complementary outfits. Hemsworth rocked a cream three-piece suit from Tom Ford, but it was Pataky who stole his thunder, shining bright in a golden gown and matching flower crown.

Bad Bunny

The Puerto Rican super star turned heads in a Maison Margiela pinstripe navy suit with shoulder pads and bright red stripes on the inside of the pant legs. He accessorised the look with the brand’s signature hoof Tabi shoes as well as a blue iridescent hat that referenced the character, Count Axel, from the Garden of Time short story the event’s theme is based on this year.

Harry and Jill Kargman

The Upper East Side power couple flaunted on-theme ensembles as they arrived on the green carpet. The Odd Mom Out author wore a white lace frock with black lace details that included her initials embroidered on the front. Meanwhile, her husband paid homage to Count Axel from the short story The Garden of Time, which inspired this year’s theme.

Jennifer Lopez

The entertainer and Met Gala co-chair enchanted crowdgoers in a Schiaparelli silver gown with rose vine details and reportedly made up of 2.5mil beads. She paired the gown with cream-coloured clutch and an exhuberant diamond necklace with wing-like features.

Zendaya

The Challengers star and Met Gala co-chair wore a jaw-dropping gown from Maison Margiela by John Galliano. With its dark blue and green jewel toned draping complete with vine-like details bearing ornate fruit, she looked like an evil fae set upon haunting an unfortunate princess. The look was topped off with a fascinator thad had green netting and a black plume emerging from the top, and a plum-coloured gothic lip and matching eyeshadow.

Zendaya (again)

The Dune actor took to the green carpet once more to show off another jaw-dropping look from John Galliano. This time around she donned a lush black Vintage Givenchy gown, but it was her Frida Kahlo-esque, floral fascinator that drew all the attention.

Karlie Kloss

The supermodel looked like the second coming of Sleeping Beauty iteration Briar Rose with a stunning pink custom-made gown from Swarovski.

Iman Hamaam

The model wore a golden two-piece that was custom-made by Swarovski, complimenting the gleaming earrings and bangles she donned.

Anok Yai

The model looked like an enchanting pixie in a stunning blue bodysuit custom-made by Swarovski. It’s no wonder so many were quick to fall under her spell.

The model turned heads in asymmetrical, butterfly wing-inspired gown from Versace.

The R&B crooner came prepared in an elaborate black coat draped over his suit paired with a large fedora from Alexander McQueen. He accessorised the look with a contrasting, completely red rose.

The Bottoms actor donned an iridescent Prada gown with a collumn silhouette and mermaid scale sequins fitting for the theme of fantasy.

The singer made her Met Gala debut with a stunning Fendi gown adorned with strings of silver flowers complete with matching gloves.

Gustav Magnar Witzøe

The Norwegian billionaire was a Grecian pale peach vision on the green carpet, rocking a rose gold cape straight from a fairytale and sheer fabric adorned with sparkling muscles. He accessorised with a rose gold laurel headpiece.

Rebecca Hall

The actor looked ethereal in column silhouetted gown from Danielle Frankel overlaid with a layers of flowers that looked like they had been drawn on with oil paint. Her shoulders were adorned with seemingly temporary flower tattoos that matched those of her gown and gloves. She wore kitten heels with a matching floral design.

Mona Patel

The multi-millionaire entrepreneur showed up to the green carpet in a jaw-dropping, functional Iris Van Herpen gown complete with animatronic butterflies up and down her arm.

Sabrina Harrison

The dentistry entrepreneur donned a stunning gold ensemble with surreal, Salvador Dalí-esque clock adorments, and a sharp, halo-like fascinator.

Kim Kardashian

The billionaire turned heads in a grey cardigan and corseted silver gown from Maison Margiela by John Galliano complete with fitting floral details. She paired the look with elf-like platinum blonde hair.

Sydney Sweeney

The Immaculate actor showed up donning a gorgeous icy blue Miu Miu gown complete with blue rose embroidery. She paired the look with a black bob and gloves.

The heir to the Getty oil fortune rocked an ornate off-the-shoulder gown in shades of rose gold and champagne. The ensemble was custom-made by designer Connor Ives. She paired the look with chic updo and leopard print kitten heels.

The Emmy nominee stunned in a translucent, glass-like gown from Balmain that was fitting for someone who once played Sleeping Beauty. The little birds on the edges of the gown’s protruding shoulders evoked the fairytale trope of birds dressing the main protagonist.

The country singer embraced flower power with a Michael Kors gown for her Met Gala debut. She walked the green carpet with boyfriend Chase Stokes of Outer Banks fame.

Hanani Taylor

The model wore a jaw dropping golden gown with cobweb-like sheath over it. She paired the look with a decadent silver and rose gold headpiece evocative of the ones flappers wore in the 1920s.

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo

The Wicked co-stars rocked the green carpet side-by-side. The “Eternal Sunshine” singer donned an ethereal, iridescent gown from Loewe which she paired with elf-like makeup. Meanwhile, the Oscar nominee stunned in Thom Browne, wearing the designer’s signature subversion of tailored menswear with a blazer and cascading skirt adorned with pink flowers.

The president of Jujamcyn Theaters on Broadway walked the green carpet cloaked head to toe in flowers, starting with the freshest flowers at the top and transitioning to brown rot at the hem, embodying the natural cycle of life and death.

The “Water” singer embodied the iconic fairytale figure, the Sandman, with her sand-textured gown from Balmain accessorised with an hourglass purse seemingly holding the sands of time. The singer certainly looked like a dream come true.

The multi-hyphenate producer wore a beige gown with a swirling texture that enhanced the bodice of her gown and the puffs around her shoulders and waist like the petals of a flower.

The And Just Like That star rocked a skin-coloured tea-length gown from Richard Quinn complete with silver floral embroidery paired with a swirling fascinator atop her head.

The fashion designer and actor wore a stunning black-and-white gown with layered pieces evocative of butterfly wings. She walked the green carpet with her date, Oscar winner Adrien Brody.
