Blake Lively and Natalie Portman may’ve fast-tracked their way to maternity style icon status over the past few years thanks to the glorious array of dresses they’ve donned for red carpet events, but they’re not the only pregnant celebrities to prove just how phenomenal a woman can look when expecting a baby.
Rewind to 1983, and Meryl Streep was a vision in a gold, sequinned dress when she picked up her Academy Award for ‘Sophie’s Choice’ while pregnant with her second child. In 2004, Cate Blanchett dared to bare her baby bump in a Donna Karen dress boasting cut out sections at the Golden Globes. Fast-forward a decade, and a then-heavily pregnant Olivia Wilde hit headlines thanks to the skintight Gucci number she wore to the same event.
It’s fair to say that there are a whole host of famous women making a strong case for maternity style on the red carpet – and while all mums-to-be may not have a red carpet event to attend, these ensembles give an idea of the style of dress to wear if you’re tall, short, carrying high, carrying low or carrying twins.
