Is Christmas even Christmas without a posh advent calendar? Nowadays picture calendars, and basic chocolate ones don't suffice with brands bringing out everything from gin, to Prosecco and even mince pie variations.

And now, Asda has announced a cheese advent calendar. Yes, you heard us correctly, a 24-door calendar filled with beautiful cheese.

The calendar is being sold exclusively in Asda after food blogger Annem Hobson from So Wrong It's Nom created a media frenzy last year with her initial prototype.

Over 11,000 people signed up to buy a calendar in four days alone, and now the calendar has been bought to life thanks to Somerset-based cheese specialists Norseland.

'After launching my #CheeseNotChoc campaign [last year], the reaction from cheese lovers around the world has been phenomenal,' Anna says.

'The Cheese Advent Calendar is a revolution for cheese enthusiasts this Christmas,' added an Asda spokesperson.

Each cheese is individually wrapped and the calendar comes in 'book style' packaging, meaning one half can be torn off after the initial 12 days to maximise fridge space.

Handy.

So what's actually included inside?

Five varieties of cheese are available: Jarlsberg, Applewood, mature Cheddar, Red Leicester and Wensleydale with cranberries.

And unfortunately no crackers and condiments come with, so you'll need to stock up before you make your way through this.

The Cheese Advent Calendar will be available in stores from 6 November for £10.
