At the height of Queens Park Rangers’ presence in the Premier League, the Guardian published a cartoon by Merrily Harpur (Obituary, 15 January) depicting two tabloid readers reacting to a woman reading the Guardian with the words “typical QPR supporter”. As my late wife was a keen Guardian and QPR supporter, I asked to buy the original. Merrily said she had lost it but would happily redraw it for me. At my request, she changed the woman’s appearance to suggest my wife (curly hair, glasses). This is now a treasured possession. As for payment, she asked for £25 to pay for a bottle of champagne.
