Melissa McCarthy’s Got Jennifer Aniston’s Back Regarding Body Shaming

When Jennifer Aniston wrote her kick-ass essay about body shaming earlier this week, women around the world were right behind her.

And not just any women - now, Melissa McCarthy has now expressed her support.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Melissa came forward to tell the world that she has Aniston’s back.

She said that she “one hundred thousand billion percent” agreed with her: “Everybody needs to stop tearing down women,” the Ghostbusters star said.

“It’s always about the way we look, saying, ‘He’s very interesting,’ ‘He’s a good writer,’ ‘She’s looking older than she was last time we saw her.‘”

She admitted how quick she, like other women in Hollywood, is to pick out her (supposed) weaknesses: “We all are usually more self-critical towards ourselves. You see every little flaw and think, ‘Oh! I could have done this, I could have done that’.”

“But in the end, when I’m watching, I try not to focus on myself because I don’t want to self-examine.”

In case you missed it, Aniston recently expressed how “fed up” she was with pregnancy rumours about her (as well as zoomed-in photographs of her flat belly) on The Huffington Post, pointing out existing sexism and the objectification of women in the media.

She said: “[Women] are complete with or without a mate, with or without a child. We get to decide for ourselves what is beautiful when it comes to our bodies.

“We don’t need to be married or mothers to be complete. We get to determine our own ‘happily ever after’ for ourselves.”

Damn straight.
