Deciding what to wear on the night of your husband's presidential inauguration isn't easy at the best of times, but even more so when numerous designers have publicly refused to dress or lend to you – as is the case of Melania Trump.

And yet WWD reports that the soon-to-be First Lady will wear a Ralph Lauren look for the event. Lauren himself was a vocal Hillary supporter and dressed the politician in numerous trouser suits.

However, the US brand is apparently working on a custom-made gown for the Slovenian-born former model. This doesn't necessarily mean the dress is intended for the inauguration – it could be designed for one of the multiple high-profile events the Trumps have planned this week, including a dinner for 1,500 people.

That said, Trump did decide to wear the a one-shoulder white jumpsuit by the brand for Election Night, so she may consider it for another equally historic occasion.

Whatever Trump decides to wear, her chosen brand will receive a sizeable publicity boost. Nearly 37.8 million watched Barack Obama take his presidential oath in 2009, sending the profile of the designer Michelle Obama wore – Isabel Toledeo – stratospheric.
