Meghan Markle broke away from her recent preference for skirts and dresses during a public appearance in London today, opting instead for a covetable pair of wide-leg trousers.

The soon-to-be royal was visiting a radio station in Brixton with Prince Harry - their second official appearance as a couple since announcing their engagement. Markle wrapped up warm in a chic stone-coloured Smythe coat, but it was her black wool Burberry trousers which will have everyone digging out their favourite wide-leg pair this evening.

While the silhouette has never really gone out of style, it became particularly prolific again last summer, thanks to the likes of Victoria Beckham and Sienna Miller championing high-waisted, slouchy versions - most commonly paired with box-fresh trainers and a thin-knit jumper, or equally slouchy blazer.

Markle's take on the trend has a more classic, timeless appeal. She paired hers with a balloon-sleeve Marks & Spencer jumper, skinny belt, Birks gold-bar earrings and tortoiseshell-heel Sarah Flint courts for a outfit that could work just as well for work as out for dinner in the evening. Her hair was kept simple and youthful, swept back into a slightly dishevelled bun - preventing the whole look from appearing too severe.

The good news is, Markle's exact pair is still available to buy online (as is her £45 Marks & Spencer jumper).
