Meghan Markle reportedly desired "free handbags from Victoria Beckham before snubbing her", according to a new biography.

The House of Beckham: Money, Sex and Power, a new book by Tom Bower, delves into the relationship between the Beckhams and the Sussexes, revealing where things went sour. The former journalist suggests that the Duchess of Sussex aspired to emulate the fashion icon.

The book alleges that Meghan asked the Spice Girls star for complimentary clothes and handbags while she was engaged to Prince Harry. However, this request was "vetoed by the Palace for being against their rules," according to Tom.

The explosive book also suggests Meghan was "irritated" upon discovering Victoria's wealth surpassed her own. It claimed she was annoyed when she realised the Beckhams had "considerably more wealth" than she did, reports the Mirror.

According to Tom, signs of tension in the relationship between the famous families began to emerge in 2018. He stated that although the Beckhams were invited to Harry and Meghan's wedding, they didn't make the cut for the wedding dinner.

Furthermore, he revealed that it became apparent last spring that the friendship between the couples was deteriorating when the Sussexes were left off the guest list for Brooklyn Beckham's wedding - while Prince William and Kate Middleton made the cut.

In his tell-all book released on June 20, author Tom alleged Meghan Markle's irritation with the Beckhams' social standing. He wrote: "In Meghan's celebrity world, ranking depended on wealth and fame. As a seasoned operator, Meghan deluded herself that her status in the Royal Family placed her above Victoria in the social pecking order."

Tom then further claimed: "She was irritated to discover that the Beckhams had considerably more wealth than herself. They owned five homes, had constant access to private jets, invitations to sail on yachts and much more money. And she was soon to be a duchess."

The fireworks didn't stop there though and it's said that despite Victoria offering Meghan insider beauty tips for life in London, the former actress wasn't pleased when The Sun published a piece claiming Victoria had given away beauty advice. Meghan reportedly felt betrayed and was convinced that Posh Spice was the one spilling to the press.
