The Duchess of Sussex surprised her fans on New Year's Day by re-joining Instagram under the simple account name @meghan and posting a elegant black and white video. Understood to have been filmed by Prince Harry, the inaugural post shows the Duchess on the beach in Montecito drawing the digits 2025 into the sand while wearing an all-white ensemble.

Given her global fame, it has been claimed that Meghan could earn a staggering £800,000 per post on the social media platform. While this is unbelievable, she has already engaged one bold move by reportedly switching the comments off on her new account to avoid any backlash.

Experts have previously estimated the former Hollywood actress, 43, could make $1milllion (£790,000) per post as "an absolute minimum", reports MailOnline.

While Meghan previously had a personal account with three million followers, she and Prince Harry have since said they had had to deal with an "almost unsurvivable" amount of abuse.

And, although Meghan's plans for her new account remain unknown, royal expert Ingrid Seward told The Sun the post may have a "hidden message".

She told the paper: "There's always there's always a hidden message with Meghan. I think it's a positive message: 'Hi, I'm here. I'm back. I'm doing my thing, and Harry will be doing his thing, and I should be doing mine' - and I think it's just a positive message.

"They've been sort of dogged a bit last year by lots of rumours about the state of their marriage, and whether Harry was happy and why we haven't seen more of Meghan, and I think she realizes that she wants to start 2025 on a very positive and sort of strong note.

"You know, 'look at me, I'm here. Watch out for me and what I'm doing.'"

The new account comes after she and Prince Harry have pursued a number of avenues since their departure from royal life, including creating content for podcasts with Spotify and documentaries for Netflix which have focused on their personal and charitable interests.

While their self-titled series was released in December 2022, other works have included Live to Lead, a series released on New Year's Eve 2022, the Heart Of Invictus, which was released last year, and an adaption of Meet Me at the Lake. The couple's latest programme - which received a largely muted response - was released towards the end of last year and focused on the "fierce rivalries" and the "intense training" that those in the US Open Polo Championship go through.

With Netflix having reportedly struck an £80 million deal with the pair, the couple's next show will have Meghan at the helm as she will focus on “the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship.”
