Meghan Markle's close friend has revealed she is "stronger than she knows", in a rare insight into how the duchess is finding post-royal life in the US.

Meghan met Delfina Blaquier when her husband, the Argentinian polo star Nacho Figueras, played in the same team as Prince Harry.

They have been pictured together on a number of occasions, including at events for the Duke of Sussex's charity Sentebale.

Speaking to Hello! magazine about the former royal mother-of-two, Blaquier said: "She is so wonderful and strong. Stronger than she knows. I love being around my friends, and I will always support her."

Her husband Figueras – who has himself been friends with the prince for 15 years – also commented on the Sussexes' relationship.

He said: "I have known him for so long and he has always wanted someone to love and marry and have a family with, so it makes me so happy to see them happy and with two beautiful children."

In June, Blaquier shared a post on Instagram in which she praised her "fellow 'pwife' (polo wife)" and indicated that they had been spending more time together since the Sussexes had relocated to California.

Captioning a picture of the pair watching their husbands train together, she wrote: "M – looking forward to many more of these times with you and H.

"Getting to spend time together over these two months was so special. I wish everyone knew you the way you are.

"My sister, my now fellow 'pwife' – genius of you to come up with this. Can’t wait to see you again soon, to share thrill, hikes, and just more chill time.

"You also have my respect. Keep walking, steady and strong. Listen to your heart, that will guide you well, because you have a big one and it’s a beautiful one."

It comes as Meghan, who stepped back from the royal family alongside her husband in 2020, this week released her first Archetypes podcast episode on Spotify.

In her interview with tennis player and friend Serena Williams, she revealed that she "had to leave" Archie on South Africa tour following a nursery fire.
