Meghan Markle looked stylish in an off-shoulder, knotted cream bodysuit by the New York-based brand Khaite for the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games.

The Duchess of Sussex, 40, stepped on stage for the event at The Hague in the Netherlands yesterday evening, where she made a speech introducing husband Prince Harry.

As part of her look, the former actress paired her elegant top – priced at £620 from MyTheresa – with a pair of smart black trousers and black heels

She finished off her outfit with a pretty up-do and understated make-up, and accessorised with a number of pieces of sparkly jewellery.

These included a Cartier necklace, Lorraine Schwartzman emerald cut diamond earrings and Princess Diana's diamond tennis bracelet.

The latter piece has been worn several times by the duchess since her 2018 wedding, including for her interview with Oprah Winfrey in early 2021.

But the mother-of two's diamond bracelet wasn't the only nod to her mother-in-law Diana, her wrap-style bodysuit was similar to one worn by the late princess in a portrait by Mario Testino at Diana's last portrait sitting, five months before her death in Paris in 1997.

Speaking of her "love and respect" for the duke, she revealed he had spent "many late nights and early mornings" planning for the games, which he founded in 2014.

The couple arrived – without two-year-old son Archie and ten-month-old daughter Lili – in the Netherlands earlier this week, with the mother-of-two wowing in an all-white Valentino suit.

Finishing off her head-turning ensemble, the duchess also slipped on a pair of pointed-toe Aquazzura heels and a Maison Valentino shoulder bag with gold chain detailing.

Meghan also wore her Cartier Tank watch – another nod to the late Princess Diana – which was given to her as a gift from Prince Harry. The watch was originally chosen by Prince William from their late mother's belongings, and Harry had chosen her sapphire and diamond engagement ring.

However, William later asked for the Garrard ring when he wanted to propose to the Duchess of Cambridge in 2010, and the brothers swapped their inherited pieces, with Harry gifting the Cartier Tank watch to Meghan several years later.

For her next public appearance at the event, Meghan wore a black jacket with gold buttons from Celine, along with a pair of jeans from Japanese brand Moussy Vintage.

The duchess wore her hair in a high ponytail and accessorised with a pair of sunglasses from Celine.

This year's Invictus Games were originally due to be held in 2020, but were delayed due to the pandemic.
