Since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped away from royal duties, they've been pretty much locked down in LA with little opportunity for Harry to fly back to the UK and catch up with the royal family. Case in point, missing his cousin Princess Beatrice's wedding in July due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

Now The Times is reporting that a family reunion could be on the cards later this year, with the Queen keen to get everyone back together for one of her favourite occasions in the royal calendar if the pandemic allows.

June 2021 sees the Queen turn 95. Her birthday is usually marked by the Trooping the Colour parade in London, a major military ceremony where over 1400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians pay tribute to Her Majesty while thousands of people line the streets around Buckingham Palace and the Mall.

Last year, Trooping the Colour was cancelled due to COVID-19, but The Times reports that the Queen is hopeful that this year the ceremony will take place. Especially as the vaccination programme is currently being rolled out across the UK. (Side note: Both Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh have already received their COVID-19 jabs.)

The Times writes: 'The current plan is for the Queen’s birthday parade to go ahead in London as normal, with the acceptance that it may need to be adapted or scaled back depending on what guidelines are in force at the time. But the aspiration and the ultimate desire is to make it happen.'

Although Meghan and Harry are no longer senior royals, Trooping the Colour is considered a family event so they would be expected to be in attendance.

Like everything right now, even the royals calendars are up in the air so we'll just have to wait and see how 2021 pans out. But here's hoping the gang are back together on that balcony soon.
