Meet The 73-Year-Old Proving You’re Never Too Old To Rock A Bikini

Smiling coyly as she stares into the camera, Nora poses fiercely in a pink and red colour block bikini while a professional photographer snaps her picture. You’d expect a swimwear model to ooze body confidence, but Nora isn’t a professional model, but a 73-year-old pensioner who’s proving that you’re never too old to pose in your smalls.
The shoot was the brainchild of lifestyle photographer Emily Stein who wanted to demonstrate that beauty can be ageless.
But though Nora looks every inch the BoPo ambassador, the housewife from Stoke Newington, London hasn’t always been this body proud as Emily explained to It’s Nice That.
“Nora says she has never been photogenic, but felt taking the photographs helped her to feel more comfortable and content with herself and her body,” says Emily.

Emily decided to create the inspirational photo series in the hope of encouraging other women to be proud of their looks, no matter their age.
“Nora has never been able to see or appreciate how attractive she is,” she explained to the publication. “Showing me photographs of her younger gorgeous self – telling me ‘look, I’m plain,’ it struck me as such a shame that no matter what we look like we are all so critical of ourselves, and even at 73 Nora is no more at peace with how she looks.”
And stripping off to pose confidently in swimwear and semi sheer lingerie, made the Czech-born housewife feel body confident for the first time in her life.

Emily isn’t the only one to tap into the idea of ageless fashion and beauty. Earlier this year we reported on 56-year-old Nicola Griffin who made history as the oldest model to appear in Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. While last month online shop the Dreslyn and lingerie brand Land of Women chose 60-year-old model Yazemeenah Rossi to front the campaign for their swimwear collaboration.
And Iris Apfel also made headlines recently by becoming latest model to front the campaign for Australian clothing line, Blue Illusion age 94!
“I don’t think style has any age. It’s in your DNA and inherent. It’s a matter of attitude,” she said at the time.

Though we often think of diversity in the fashion industry as covering race, size and gender, it’s good to see that ageless style is having it’s moment. Because age shouldn’t be a boundary to looking, and more importantly feeling, good.
