Major Ollie Plunket is Queen Camilla's equerry, an officer from one of the armed services who is appointed to assist members of royalty in the day-to-day handling of their duties. Royal fans were quick to notice the him at the King's coronation and he has been getting lots of attention ever since.

Admiring the many equerries at the Coronation, one viewer asked: "Who’s the hot guy in front of Charles?" before simply adding "Fit." While another royal fan wrote: "I think a Royal Equerry Appreciation Society is needed," with one other viewer sharing an old collage with the caption, "More Ollie Plunket for you!"

The role of equerry involves being in close regular contact with a member of the Royal Family within royal residences, as well as at public engagements and members of the monarchy usually choose their own equerry. Plunkett was appointed to the role by Camilla in November 2022 and he assists in looking after the Queen Consort's diary, as well helping her with official events, and providing support with military relationships and engagements.

The royal household also includes a number of "extra equerries" — honorary appointees drawn from among the current and retired senior officers of the royal household. An equerry usually spends around three years in the role.

Major Plunkett serves in The Rifles, the regiment Camilla has been colonel-in-chief of since 2020 after succeeding the late Prince Philip. He has an adventurous side as before he started working with the Royal Family, he had been on some exciting excursions including a solo motorbike ride from Argentina to Alaska while on a gap year at the age of 18. The impressive seventh-month journey saw the teen cross 14 countries and travel nearly 40,000km. He even managed to avoid a rock fall along the way.

His trip raised over £100,000 for the Fisher House Foundation, which is a charity that provides a home away from home for the families of military patients being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. Speaking about the excursion, he said: “I've ridden some amazing roads with incredible scenery. I have enjoyed the challenge immensely but always in my mind was the fact that I was doing this for the troops and their families."

He then went on to take up an Army scholarship at Exeter University, which led him to the role of equerry. Not much is known about his personal life, but it is believed he is aged 29 and is currently single – which the Royal Equerry Appreciation Society will be very happy to hear, no doubt.
