McDonald's Just Launched a New Meal That Has Fans Racing to the Drive-Thru

When McDonald's releases anything new, its fans are ready, especially when a new Happy Meal hits menus. It's not just the younger fans—kids and adults alike rush out to nab a Happy Meal when it includes a trendy or nostalgic collectible. From Sonic the Hedgehog to last summer's Collector’s Meals, these franchise partnerships keep fans coming back to the iconic burger chain.

Now, there's a new reason to head to McDonald's (and fast) thanks to a brand new meal fans are going to love, but only for a limited time.

McDonald’s Releases New Pokémon Happy Meal

McDonald’s recently released its Pokémon Dragon Discovery Happy Meal this month for a limited time and everyone is talking about it. Here’s what we know about the fast food giant’s latest promotion.

McDonald’s new Pokémon Happy Meal comes with a set of 15 cards to collect, and according to Screen Rant, will feature “Dragon-type Pokémon” to coincide with the promotion’s new dragon theme. Each card will also include a holofoil pattern exclusive to McDonald’s.

The new Happy Meals come with a poster and sticker sheet and feature four different Happy Meal boxes featuring Charizard, Dragonite & Pikachu, Rayquaza, and Roaring Moon. As for the food, it comes with the typical offerings: 4-Piece McNuggets, 6-Piece McNuggets, or Hamburger, including a drink, fries, and apple slices.

“Much like they do for McDonald’s, our fans have deep nostalgia and love for the Pokémon brand,” Guillaume Huin, senior marketing director at McDonald’s said in a press release. “We’re thrilled to build on those great memories and create a new moment of fun and happiness with the new Pokémon Happy Meal.”

This is not the first time McDonald’s teamed up with Pokémon. McDonald’s usually runs its annual Pokémon Trading Card Game with promo cards, but the U.S. didn’t see it in 2024. Now, it's back, and fans are ready to beeline to their nearest drive-thru.

Fans are already buzzing with excitement on social media. “Going to buy 10,000 happy meals,” joked one Instagram user, while another announced, “Got a Charizard box Friday along with holo Koraidon and holo Miraidon.”

The vibe is similar on Reddit, where fans are ready and eager to get their hands on this new Happy Meal. “I’m gonna have to buy at least a few of these just so I have some,” said one, while another echoed, “Must have one.”

McDonald’s new Dragon Discovery Happy Meal is available now until Feb. 24. However, as one Reddit user warned, “Getting these the first time around a couple years ago was tough…probably gonna be worse now.” If you want to nab your Pokémon Happy Meal, you better make your way to McDonald’s ASAP.
