Matthew Perry Hid A Secret Note To Lisa Kudrow In A Gift He Gave Her
After his heartbreaking death in October 2024, Lisa Kudrow has revealed that she found a secret note from her Friends co-star, Matthew Perry, that he had stowed away for her to find at a later date.
'Matthew gave that to me at the end of our last episode,' Kudrow remarked on the January 7 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, referring to a cookie jar prop that Perry had taken from the set. 'I had recently found the note that he had in it for me. I hadn't opened it up or looked inside of it. But yeah, he did. He had a note in there and I forgot about it.'

While the actor politely declined to reveal the exact contents of Perry's note, she revealed that she only found it after his passing, sentimentally adding, 'Timing is everything.'
Kudrow, who starred in Friends alongside David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston and Matt LeBlanc, has previously spoken on the secret meaning behind the cookie jar prop, which is in the shape of a clock and which reads 'Cookie Time.'
'We were shooting a scene years before we finished,' Kudrow said during a 2020 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. 'My line was, "Ohhh, I’m late. I better get going," and it was too late when I realised I don’t have a watch. As the words were coming out I went, "Oh good there’s a clock," and I gestured to that and said, "Oh look at the time. I better get going."'
After they'd wrapped filming the scene, Perry approached Kudrow and asked, 'Did you point to the cookie jar and say, "Look at the time"?' Once they realised Kudrow's mistake, the two ended up 'laughing hysterically and crying.'
Perry was found dead in a hot tub on Saturday, October 28 at his Los Angeles home. It was later revealed that the actor died from ‘the acute effects of ketamine.’
