Matt Lucas 'forced' to compete in The Great Celebrity Bake Off after contestant drops out

The Great British Bake Off host Matt Lucas was "forced" to become a contestant in the celebrity version after a competitor dropped out.

The Little Britain star, who has co-hosted the baking competition with Noel Fielding since 2020, was drafted in at the last minute when one of the 20 celebrities pulled out of the Stand Up to Cancer fundraising specials.

According to the Mirror, Matt and Noel tossed a coin to see who had to become a contestant and the Bridesmaids actor lost.

"I was forced to bake by my bosses at the last minute when one of the bakers became unavailable. I can't tell you how happy I was that my humiliation was caught on camera," he said, reports the publication.

In addition to Matt, celebrities including Ellie Goulding, presenter Emma Willis, The Inbetweeners star Blake Harrison and Olympian Mo Farah will show off their baking skills in the series of fundraising specials.

They will be joined by Strictly judge Motsi Mabuse, Love Island host Laura Whitmore, comedian Ruby Wax, actresses Katherine Kelly and Tracy-Ann Oberman, radio stars Annie Mac and Clara Amfo, and rapper Example, among others.

The celebrity contestants will have their bakes judged by Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, while the specials will be hosted by Noel and Matt, except for the episode in which the latter competes.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer will air later in the spring on Channel 4.
