The Masked Dancer: All the clues you need to know

Forget The Masked Singer: it's all about The Masked Dancer now. The new ITV2 show sees celebrities dressing up in ridiculous and over-the-top costumes, including a face covering, and dancing on stage, while revealing clues about themselves.

Each week, a different famous person is unmasked, and viewers find out who was behind the moves. But unlike The Masked Singer, where fans can attempt to identify the singer's voice, the clues become much more important when you're watching someone dancing. So, what have The Masked Dancer clues been so far?

The Masked Dancer clues

Viper - Ashley Banjo

Diversity's Ashley Banjo was unveiled as Viper in the first episode, and his clues hinted at:

  • A boxer, which was revealed as his Dad who was a boxer and also his son Cassius - Muhammed Ali's name before he converted to Islam.

  • He also said: "Vipers are born weird. This Viper, I eat well and stay healthy. I'm always moving around, I like to keep active. This Viper is ready to snake charm the competition."

Flamingo - Louise Rednapp

In episode two, Louise Rednapp was unveiled as Flamingo. Her clues included:

  • "I'm here at tonight's exclusive party to find out showbiz' biggest kept secret, what a scoop would that be."

  • "Hot pink is the new black, and don't clip these rings, as high flying runs in the extended family."

Beetroot - Dita Von Teese

Episode three of The Masked Singer revealed burlesque star Dita Von Teese, who joked 'I'd rather be up here taking my clothes off, I'd feel more comfortable!' Her clues were:

  • "I'm a farm town girl from way up north."

  • "I'm a glass half full kind of girl that takes pleasure out of the smallest thing."

  • She also revealed an American accent before adding it could "all be hearsay".

Zip

Episode one:

  • Zip is a lover of disco, and Madonna’s 'Material Girl' played in their VT.

  • "Tea at The Savoy" caught everyone's attention, and "open and shut case" was another key phrase.

  • Davina McCall picked up on “Painting the town red, yellow, green and blue”, which could reference a national flag.

Knickerbocker Glory

Episode one:

  • There were lots of quote clues for Knickerbocker Glory, including "Pay attention to the details if you want the scoop. I'm like a knickerbocker glory, I have a lot of layers."

  • And "I want to squeeze a bit of zest into the competition."

  • The fill in the blank clue was "As a young scoop, I won a __ contest with my jelly __."

Llama

Episode one:

  • A 2013 phone bill was shown in the VT, before Llama revealed "I'm a country girl at heart... eating all my greens because, after all, you are what you eat."

  • Llama also said she was a "director of my own costume drama" and "One had a reputation"

  • The fill the gap clue was "My famous _ is known for being good with _"

Scarecrow

Episode one:

  • The dancer pulled out a magic wand during one section of the show, and their fill the gap clue was "My __ was part of a __ story but it wasn’t happily ever after."

  • "I’m wearing the latest up-cycled season, but the pesky clothes, they just don’t scare anyone. But I take great pride in my work."

  • "The best bit, I get to choose my pose every morning. I’m so excited, tonight is my night off. Break a wooden leg!"

Squirrel

Episode one:

  • Apparently they’ve got "street cred and curb appeal" and have been "TV royalty from an early age."

  • "I sure had firm grounding, this branch didn't fall far from the tree. Time for this lady to style it out on the dance floor."

  • "Us squirrels get ahead of the game by impersonating other animals around us, it's like magic."

Beagle

Episode one:

  • Beagle revealed things kicked off when he got his 'first pair of boots' (footballer?), and alluded to flying planes.

  • The fill in the blank clue was, "This mutt has something in common with __ and ___"

  • They had an armband that said ‘Captain’, and suggested they were very competitive.

Frog

Episode one:

  • Someone who has ‘tales to tell’, as well as a Hollywood movie contract

  • "I was making entertainment while I was still at school"

  • The colours red, blue and yellow, an American accent, and mention of 'across the pond'

Theories: Emma Willis, Pamela Anderson

Rubber Chicken

Episode one:

  • "Hiya, I'm Rubber Chicken. This chicken can't be cooped up for long. Us rubber chickens have always been punchlines."
    "I'm just too soft and squidgy for my own good... I may look slapstick, but that's not the heart of me."

  • "This chicken just loves the chase."

Carwash

Episode one:

  • A red Ferrari and a car wash sign

  • "I’m ready to savour the excitement of this dance competition, and I'm gonna let it shine."

  • "Nowhere feels more at home than in front of a huge crowd"

Theories: Jason Orange from Take That, Matt Willis from Busted.
