Martine McCutcheon gets 'migraines from hell' because of Lyme disease and fibromyalgia

Martine McCutcheon has opened up about suffering “migraines from hell” as a result of Lyme disease and Fibromyalgia.

The EastEnders star, 45, told her followers on Instagram that she has been suffering a flare-up and that the pain was so bad she felt as if she’d been “hit on the head by a mallet”.

Sharing a picture showing her in the car, the actor wrote: “Sunshine! Hurrah!

"We are having a little drive as I’ve been having a flare up of the fibro and Lyme today and I feel like I’ve been hit on the head by a mallet!

“I get migraines from hell!”

McCutcheon said she had managed to have a rest and decided to head out for some fresh air.

The star – who is mother to a six-year-old son with her husband Jack McManus - has suffered several health issues.

In 2011 she was diagnosed with myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), which is also known as chronic fatigue syndrome and can cause extreme tiredness.

She was later diagnosed with Lyme disease, a bacterial infection that can be spread to humans by infected ticks, which causes a range of health problems.

The NHS says that fibromyalgia “is a long-term condition that causes pain all over the body”.

McCutcheon rose to fame starring as Tiffany in EastEnders, a role she had from 1995 to 1998.

Her other TV credits include Echo Beach and Midsomer Murders and she has also appeared in shows such as Celebrity Gogglebox and The Masked Singer.

The actor has also enjoyed success on the big screen in films including Jump! and Christmas favourite Love Actually.
