Martin Kemp's wife Shirlie breaks silence to enjoy her garden after husband's health shock
Martin Kemp's wife Shirlie has broken her silence as she enjoyed her garden, following Martin's shock health confession.
Shirlie, 62, took to Instagram to share a video of the flowers in her garden bathed in sunlight, but she chose not to add a caption.
She also added on Wednesday 1, May that she was suffering with her health too.
She said: "I've had a cough for over a month and told it's a 100 day cough."
Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp recently revealed to his son, former Capital Radio Breakfast host Roman Kemp, that he thinks he may only have a decade left to live.
The popular father-and-son duo have just launched their new podcast - FFS! My dad Is Martin Kemp - and kicking off the series, 62-year-old Martin and Roman, 31, tackled the heavy subject of death head-on.
With a no-holds-barred attitude, Martin told his son that he thinks he only has around a decade left alive, as he said: "10 years, I don't know".
The pop icon recounted his battle with a brain tumour at the age of 34, which led him to come to terms with the possibility of dying.
Martin shared: "But I was the age of 34 when I went through all that brain tumour scare and I went through two years of my life thinking I was going to die." He expressed gratitude for every moment since that ordeal, saying, "Every day, every year every month that I've lived has been a bonus."
"When I was 34 and I went through that brain tumour stuff, I was practically resigned to the fact I was gonna die," he said
He continued: "But I was quite happy, because I'd lived the most incredible experiences. I lived through the 80s in a rock band, the people I met, the things I'd done. When I was 17 I was flying around Europe on jets drinking champagne at 7am."
Martin went on to say that he thought "I'm quite happy" when he thought he was going to die back in the day, as he added positively "every month that I'm alive is now a bonus".
Shirlie, Martin's wife, has remained silent on his recent comments, however, her recent Instagram post indicates that she has been enjoying the sunshine with the rest of the UK.
The pair are longtime loves, having married in 1988. They met at a movie premiere, where Martin gave Shirlie his number, but she didn't call him for three weeks. It was actually her close pal, Wham! star George Michael, who eventually persuaded her to pick up the phone, and the rest is history.
Martin and Shirlie share two children: Daughter, Harley Moon, 34, and son, Roman.
