Married At First Sight fury as viewers make official complaints to Ofcom amid 'gaslighting' rows
Married At First Sight UK has been hit with a slew of Ofcom complaints regarding the behaviour of one of its stars. The E4 reality show is into its seventh week, with the remaining couples preparing to decide whether to stay with their spouse after meeting them at the altar.
However, the popular show is under fire after Ofcom revealing that it had received a number of complaints last week about star Alex Henry. The TV regulation body revealed that it received 53 complaints from the public between Tuesday 29 October and Monday 4 November regarding "alleged gaslighting behaviour by Alex".
The series hasn't been drama-free for Alex and his bride Holly Ditchfield, whose explosive arguments have left fans unimpressed. In an episode that aired last month, Holly attempted to explain to Alex that she was upset after he spent one of the dinner parties with new arrival Amy Kenyon. However, Alex dismissed her concerns as Holly "acting up for the cameras".

MAFS viewers have been vocal on social media about Alex's behaviour, with one fan writing: "Alex laughing at women is so tactical and calculated. He’s even managed to manipulate the experts into thinking he’s a victim in this, he’s a gaslighter #mafs #mafsuk." Another wrote: "Alex’s gaslighting is on another level. He chats up another woman all night but Holly has to shut up because she’s ruining the evening by being upset by it!?!?" OK! has reached out to E4 for comment.

Alex and Holly left the experiment last week after both stars chose to leave their relationship, however the pair were spotted kissing whilst out in Manchester at the weekend. After the episode aired, Alex wrote on social media: "Unfortunately, it just wasn’t meant to be. A lot of people wanted me and Holly to last the test of time, at times I wish we could have too. We shared some great memories together on and off camera. I wish Holly nothing but the best in the future, she deserves it! Speak to you all real soon! Love."
Alex - who was in Aviation Operations before the show - recently served 24 days in a military prison for abandoning his role as a commanding officer at RAF Spadeadam in Cumbria. After taking unauthorised leave from his post at an electronic warfare unit to film MAFS UK, Alex was sentenced to prison time and later dismissed from the forces. "He returned after filming of his own volition and handed himself into the military authorities. He was sentenced to 34 days in a military prison and served 24 as a model inmate," his representative said in September.
