M&S' scalloped swimwear has designer vibesMarks & Spencer

We love Marks & Spencer's swimwear for how well it marries quality and affordability, offering designs that look and feel far more expensive than their price tags. We've already fallen hard for this season's £39.50 ruffled swimsuit with its plunging neckline and statement frill across one shoulder (right on trend with the boho revival in full swing), and have our eye on a cream scoop-neck one-piece with island-style beaded straps. But the star, for those in the know, is the high street hero's scalloped swimwear, not least because it's giving us some strong designer vibes.

Now, we must point out that these styles are mostly not new, though fresh colourways have been released for 2024. What they are, is timelessly chic, hence the restock for those who missed out last time. They also remind us of luxury swimwear brand Marysia, which is known for its scalloped designs and a firm favourite of our fashion director Oonagh. If your budget can stretch to those three-figure prices, they're hard to beat for style factor, but it's great to have some sub-£40 alternatives.

Top of the class, M&S' £35 scalloped swimsuit launched last summer to great fanfare, immediately going viral and flying off the shelves. It's still the best black swimsuit in our holiday wardrobe, perfect for pool parties and cocktails on the beach paired with striped shorts and big gold hoops, and it now also comes in zingy orange, hot pink and cool blackberry.

More of a bikini woman? Choose from a plunging, one-shoulder or triangle top, matched with high-leg bottoms.

Size sold out? We recommend signing up for notifications from M&S that tell you when it's back, as availability is constantly changing due to returns. Case in point: the polka dot dress of the summer that's been in and out all season, and has just dropped in price.

Happy holidays!
