We've fallen in love with Marks & Spencer's new autumn collection for how well it combines style with affordability, offering a range of true transitional wardrobe heroes.

Our favourites already includes M&S' textured cardigan, which is ideal for layering, and its chic faux-leather skirt that is set to become the style of the season – but now, it's the brand's elegant wrap coat that has gone straight to the top of our wish list.

We think its new Textured Detachable Scarf Wrap Coat is perfect for transitional season and looks so much more expensive than it actually is.

Crafted in a relaxed fit, it features a cosy detachable scarf giving you plenty of styling options and intricate white stitching. Both laidback and elegant, it's one of those timeless pieces you'll be able to wear for seasons to come.

In fact, it reminds us of a cult design from Stockholm designer Toteme, whose trending scarf jacket, recognisable by its blanket-stitch border and fringed scarf, has become a favourite with the fashion crowd.

Available in black and in a variety of sizes, from extra small to extra large, we envisage wearing M&S' jacket with our favourite denim and chunky leather boots this season.

Looking for more inspiration? Marks & Spencer has also revamped its popular borg coat for 2024. Available in two chic colours – natural beige and dark chocolate brown – we can already see this being the hardest-working piece in our new-season wardrobe.

And here are the high-street pieces our editor Sarah Tomczak spotted recently including the glossy Sézane bag she's obsessed with.
