Who needs an Oscar when you can just be the statue?

Margot Robbie might not have taken home any awards at last night's 2024 Oscars, but that didn't stop her from dressing up like an actual gold statue at the Vanity Fair's after-party. I mean, who needs an Oscar when you can just be one?

Keeping her anti-Barbie streak going, Robbie changed out of her shimmery black chainmail gown from Versace and into an embellished gold vintage Thierry Mugler corset from the designer's spring 1996 collection. She teamed her beaded lingerie with a silky gold cape draped effortlessly around her arms, a pair of gold lace-up stilettos, and, surprisingly, no pants.

Robbie's nails were painted a nude shade, while her the rest of her glam included natural makeup, bare lips, and her signature blonde hair styled in tousled waves with a middle part.

While many expected Robbie to save her best Barbie look for the finale of award season, she, instead, wore all-black without a hint of pink or a nod to her character in sight, prompting fans to believe she was dressing in protest amid her non-nomination for Best Actress. “I think this is dress is a protest againts the Academy … all black, no accsesories, hair and make up very neutral," one person shared on Instagram. Another added, "Black because she was snubbed. Take a stand girlllll! Don’t give them what they want!”

It wasn't just Robbie, Barbie's director Greta Gerwig was also left off the ballot for the Best Director category. The film as a whole, however, was up for eight nominations, and won Best Original Song for Billie Eilish's "What Was I Made For?"
