The highly-anticipated sequel to Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale is on sale.
The 79-year-old Canadian author debuted her new novel, The Testaments, in London, on Monday night arriving to do a surprise reading at Waterstones in Piccadilly Circus just before midnight.
The book, which follows The Handmaid’s Tale, is set in the same dystopian universe of Gilead, 15 years after the original.
“The wait is over to find out what happened to Offred,” writes a Yahoo UK reporter, who included the novel in her round-up of the best books launching this month.
“Margaret Atwood neatly answers all of the questions we’ve been dying to ask for the past 23 years, with a nod to the current world we live in thrown in for excellent measure.”
The Testaments is predicted to be just as popular as its predecessor and is already shortlisted for the Booker Prize 2019.
