In ELLE’s new column, Ask the AstroTwins, our resident astrologers take on your burning questions about the cosmos. Now that you’re in the groove of 2025, and likely have a list of aspirations for the months ahead, the AstroTwins reveal: How can you use astrology for manifestation? Plus, the related dates you need to know all year long.
Ask, believe, receive? At its most simplified level, manifestation follows that three-step process. You focus on a desire, and send a request to the universe to deliver it to you— ideally with expedited shipping. Then, you picture the outcome you want to create as if it’s already happened. Lastly, you remain open and receptive, a clear channel for the gifts that are coming your way. Voilà, lucky girl syndrome achieved.
When it works, it’s awe-inspiring. But how do you know what to ask for and if it’s the best time to call that wish in? That’s where astrology adds a helpful dimension to the manifesting process. There are key times each month—and throughout the year—for attracting what you want.
New and Full Moons: Monthly Manifestation Moments
Every month, the skies serve up a new moon and a full moon, spaced two weeks apart. These are the dates to circle on your calendar. Each moment is ripe with potential for manifestation, but in a slightly different way.
New moons offer a clean slate, a moment to start from scratch and set a fresh intention. Don’t expect immediate results, however. It can take up to six months—until the corresponding full moon—for you to generate anything tangible. Still, the seeds you sow at a new moon can bring a bumper crop. Patience is a virtue here.
Full moons tend to be more accelerated days for manifestation. You may be harvesting whatever you planted six months prior, during the corresponding new moon. That said, you can drum up a little “instant karma” during a full moon by visualizing and literally “acting as if” you’ve already achieved your desired outcome. If you feel like 2025 is the year you will meet your soulmate, think about what life would be like if that already happened. You might wear a sparkly ring, walk around envisioning yourself holding your partner’s hand, or even think about what you would talk about on a moonlit stroll. In doing so, you put yourself in the vibrational frequency of the role you want to fulfill.
You could do the same thing for a dream job manifestation. What would you wear, who would you talk to, where you spend time if you were already hired? Literally going to the places where people in that industry hang out could accelerate the process. Enroll in a conference or join a networking group, but do so not from the mindset of a curious spectator but as if you are on your way to becoming a keynote speaker. The energy that you project from that space will be far more attractive to people who would scout you out.
Gratitude can be a magic ingredient for speeding up manifestation. It also helps if you get specific. Try writing a note to the universe like, “Thank you for opening up two seats to the February 16 Bad Bunny show so I can take my best friend for her birthday.” Again, you want to use language that speaks in future tense, as if your wish has already been granted.
How the Zodiac Figures In
The zodiac sign that the new or full moon falls in adds another helpful layer, especially when it comes to timing. For example, let’s say you want to manifest a long-term relationship with someone who cherishes you, spoils you, and loves being part of a couple. A wish like that has “Libra” written all over it.
If you’re patient enough to wait for a Libra new or full moon, that’s amazing. Trouble is, there’s only one of each per year. The Libra new moon happens during Libra season annually—between September 23 and October 22. The Libra full moon comes every spring, when the sun is in Libra’s opposite sign of Aries from March 19 to April 19.
Fortunately, you have alternate options. Every month, the moon spends two-and-a-half days in each of the zodiac signs. That means it will definitely cruise through Libra for a couple days each month—prime time to focus on your couple goals. You can use an app like iLuna or Moonlight Phases, or check a moon calendar like this one, to see what sign the moon is in on any given day.
Plan Ahead by Tracking the Moon Phases
No matter what’s on your wish list, it’s worth doing a manifestation ritual during every new moon. (Full moons too, though they tend to deliver results whether you ask for them or not.) Here’s a handy list of what each zodiac sign rules over, along with the new and full moon dates for 2025, so you can put in your request at the best possible moment. Happy manifesting.
