The Mango barn jacket every fashion person owns is back
Barn jackets are the undisputed outerwear trend of the season, now not only seen in the countryside but also on the streets of our most fashionable cities. One style in particular, however, has been top of every editor and influencer's wish list this autumn/winter, and it comes from high-street favourite Mango. It went viral and flew off the shelves faster than many of us could click 'add to basket', but now it's back and currently still available in all sizes...
The sought-after parka, £99.99, is an investment buy that will go the distance without fully breaking the bank. Made from sturdy cotton canvas in a warm khaki colour with a contrasting chocolate-brown corduroy collar, it features utility-style oversized pockets and chic brass-toned fastenings. The beady-eyed among you will notice that it's slightly different to the original, which was more of a toffee colour with three clasps instead of four, and flap rather than slip pockets. But, it looks just as expensive, and we actually prefer the update.
Though long championed by forever It girl Alexa Chung, boxy barn jackets became the style set's darling after Prada sent beige and navy iterations down its SS24 runway, paired with sheer skirts for that always cool masculine/feminine clash. We love to wear ours with straight-leg jeans and cosy knits, but you could also throw one over a slip dress or sequin skirt – they're very versatile. Or, indulge your Rivals fandom by going full Cotswolds and wearing your barn jacket with thick leggings and Hunter wellies.
Royal-family favourite Barbour remains the original port of call for barn jackets (or, as you may know them, country jackets or waxed jackets), but there are now a host of more affordable options available on the high street, including this & Other Stories style we also love. Mango's barn jacket, however, is still all over Instagram, so you can find plenty of styling inspiration there...
If you love the Mango barn jacket, we suggest snapping it up now before everybody else gets wind of this news...
