Man Converts 800-Year-Old-Cave Into Luxury Holiday Rental

This unique 4 bedroom house is rather luxurious for an 800-year-old cave. There’s an electric range, an ‘oasis shower’ with underfloor heating, wood burning stoves, water supply and even wifi.

Set in 3 acres of private woodland in Worcestershire, The Rockhouse is a “unique romantic retreat hand sculpted from a Triassic sandstone escarpment.” It’s the vision of Angelo Mastropietro.

Angelo stumbled upon the dilapidated cave after he and some friends were forced to take shelter from the rain during a bike ride.

A decade later he saw it was for sale, made the purchase and spent eight months single handedly carving and excavating 70 tonnes of stone by hand.

The project was featured on Grand Designs and is available to rent from £195 per night. Split four ways that’s a complete bargain.
