MAFS UK's Nathan speaks out on Lacey split for first time
Married At First Sight UK is over for another year and what a season it's been. From intense dinner parties, to declarations of love, to shocking new arrivals, the series has been nothing short of dramatic. And yet in between all the drama, there was one golden couple to come out of the series, Nathan and Lacey.
But of course the question we all want answering is are the couple still together now? Well here's everything we know.
What happened with Lacey and Nathan on MAFS UK?
Nathan, a 24-year-old engineer from Somerset and Lacey, a 27-year-old office manager from Hertfordshire, were matched up by a team of experts, based on a series of questions they had answered about their background, morals, interests and more.
They met for the first time on their wedding day, when things got off to an awkward start when Nathan mistook Lacey's twin to be his bride. The pair also somewhat struggled to form an emotional spark, when Nathan failed to comfort or show interest in Lacey when she shared the tragic reason why she didn't drive - though Nathan explained that this was down to his ADHD.
On honeymoon, the pair seemed to be getting on, playing volleyball and hanging out on the beach together, although Lacey admitted they had still struggled to find that intimate connection.
Thankfully, once back in the UK they managed to find this connection and went from strength to strength during their time on the experiment. They rarely got into arguments and seemed to be really good at understanding each other and talking through problems to communicate what they both needed.
Though they weren't without their challenges, including one very awkward dinner with Nathan and Lacey's family (never forget those fajitas), they were easily the strongest couple in the experiment.
Before the experiment had wrapped up the couple had both confessed their love for each other and seemed to be looking forward to their future together.
When it came to final vows, both of them continued to keep their relationship going outside of the experiment and even joked about their future children together, which Lacey affectionatley named "Nathan Juniors". And during the reunion episode it was revealed the couple were still together.
Are Lacey and Nathan from MAFS UK still together?
Guys, we hate to share this news, but Lacey and Nathan are no longer together following the reunion.
Before the show had finished airing it had been reported the couple had split in April earlier this year following the end of filming.
A source told The Sun: "Nathan and Lacey really tried to make their relationship work in the real world but it just fizzled after a while.
"The final vows were filmed in February and they were still going strong in April when the reunion was shot, but since then they have called in quits. They were both sad it didn't work out, but sadly it wasn't meant to be. It's also a big blow for fans who were really invested in their relationship."
And now Nathan has spoken out about the split for the first time, saying he was grateful for the relationship they had.
Speaking exclusively to Yahoo UK, Nathan said: "I have a lot of respect and care for Lacey. We both wanted different things. I went on the show to find love, and sometimes things don’t work out, but everything happens for a reason, and I’m so grateful for the time we shared together."
He continued: "Whilst I was hugely disappointed by the break up, and heartbroken, I respected her decision to part ways and I have nothing but love and good wishes for her.
"I wouldn’t have changed anything on the show, and despite what happened behind the scenes, I would still have chosen Lacey to be my bride, and I have nothing but respect and love for her."
So far Lacey hasn't commented on the breakup, but we're hoping they're both doing ok following this news.
