Madonna teases that her biopic is back on track
Madonna has given fans an update regarding her delayed biopic – and we couldn't be more excited.
The long-awaited film was reportedly put on hold by Universal Pictures as the Queen of Pop decided to focus on her Celebration World Tour instead.
But now, Madonna has teased that her self-directed biopic is back in the works once again, complete with a new title.
The star took to Instagram to share a few pictures, which show her sitting at a vintage typewriter, appearing to be working on a screenplay. In the caption, she wrote: 'I Need A-lot of Bandz to make this………..OKAY 🍸💵🤑,' adding, 'Story of my life.'
It now looks like the project will be titled Who's That Girl in a nod to her 1987 comedy film and song of the same name.
Before production on the movie was delayed, Inventing Anna and Ozark star Julia Garner was cast for the role of Madonna, following what was reportedly a rigorous audition process involving 11-hour choreography sessions and singing auditions overseen by the woman herself.
Julia is still attached to the project, according to Entertainment Weekly, but we're still waiting for a release date.
Madonna, who began her world tour in London in October 2023, performed her last show in May in front of a record-breaking audience of 1.6 million fans on Rio’s Copacabana beach.
Speaking to Variety in 2022, she said of her desire to take a hands-on approach to her biopic: 'I've had an extraordinary life. I must make an extraordinary film. No one's going to tell my story but me.'
We can't wait to watch it!
