Madonna's biopic is officially back in the works, according to the pop star's Instagram.

The Material Girl singer took to Instagram to share a series of photos of herself sat at a typewriter, looking to be working on a movie script.

The biopic had reportedly been scrapped back in January 2023, however these new photos excitingly prove that is no longer the case. It was also previously untitled, however Madonna has also revealed the biopic will now be called Who's That Girl, a reference to her 1987 film and song of the same name.

Before production on the film was paused indefinitely last year, it was reported that Madonna would be directing the film, as well as penning the script with Diablo Cody and Erin Cressida Wilson.

Following a singing and dancing boot camp - which reportedly involved choreography workshops, script readings and vocal auditions overseen by Madonna herself - Julia Garner (Ozark, Inventing Anna) was chosen to play the Queen of Pop in the movie, and it's been reported that Garner is still attached to star in the film.

We have no release date for Who's That Girl yet, but as it's still in pre-production stages, it's unlikely we'll see it hit cinemas until at least late 2025, more likely 2026.

This news comes after the singer finished her global Celebration Tour in May this year with a free concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The sell-out tour, which was originally planned to kick off in July last year, was postponed until October 2023, after Madonna suffered from a bacterial infection in June 2023.
