AT&T (NYSE: T) is a very popular stock among retirees and income investors. In response, prior CEO Randall Stephenson made several large acquisitions in the media space, with the $49 billion acquisition of DIRECTV in 2015 and then the $85.4 billion acquisition of Time Warner in 2018. Recently, KeyBanc analyst Brandon Nispel downgraded AT&T to an underweight rating, meaning that investors should reduce their holding.
