I’m A Celeb's GK Barry strikes up most unlikely friendship
I’m A Celebrity’s Reverend Richard Coles has only been in main camp for a matter of days thanks to being held in the Junkyard, but he’s already making friends and one of which is 25-year-old GK Barry.
During tonight’s episode (Monday 25 November) the pair got talking and began to bond over a shared experience. Speaking to Richard about juggling his sexuality and religion, GK asked him whether he finds it ‘difficult being gay’ and ‘doing that job?’. To which Richard confessed: “No, not at all. I’ve never given it a moment’s twinge of anxiety over whether God thought it was alright or not. Whether other people thought it was alright or not, well I’m happy to have that argument…”
As the pair continued to talk, Richard added: “Also, I was not the first. Sometimes I look at documents from the early church, or the church of the middle ages and I just think - so gay.” In a private talk afterwards in the Bush Telegraph GK said: “I came into this jungle, maybe not knowing who I would gel with or who I would be close with in here and never in a million years if you told me that I would be getting on best with a reverend would I have believed you. But, he is honestly... I think he might be my favourite person in here.”

GK told Richard that she used to be religious and when she was 13, went to a religious camp where there were men telling her not to have sex before marriage. But confessed that at the time, she thought “well, that’s not gonna happen. I see my future and it involves scissoring now.”
As the pair continued to chat, GK asked Richard who the most interesting person that he thinks he’s met to which Richard sweetly responded: “I think I’m looking at her.”
And fans loved the pair's unlikely connection, with one viewer on X saying: "What a duo omg' and another claiming, 'GK Barry and Richard for next camp leaders!'
Outside of the jungle GK has been dating football star Ella Rutherford since summer and have met each other’s family, and been on holiday together. During another episode of I’m A Celebrity, GK opened up to her campmates about how she told her parents they were dating.
She told them that they had met through ‘mutual friends’, but that she’d never told her parents they were dating. Instead, GK would tell them she’s seeing her ‘friend, Ella’. Speaking about a situation when her parents came down to her house to visit when Ella was there, they asked: “Who's Ella?” and she told them: “Oh, she’s my girlfriend”.
