The luxury underground hotel built in an old quarry
What do you do if you've got a huge abandoned quarry on your hands? Well one option is to build an "underground" five-star hotel in the hole and turn it into an upmarket tourist attraction.
The Deep Pit Hotel opens next month as a high-end Intercontinental resort inside a disused quarry southwest of Shanghai, China.
It has 18 floors, including two submerged in an aquarium, and every room on the remaining 16 floors is equipped with its own balcony to take in the otherworldly view.
