These Luxe New Air Jordan 1s Were Handmade in Italy

The Jordan Brand is elevating its shoe game.

Since 1997, the line established by Michael Jordan and Nike has cranked out a number of best-selling sneakers, ranging from the Air Jordan 1s to “The Last Shot” kicks. While all its shoes bring something different to the table, the company hasn’t typically been seen as a luxury brand—even though some kicks have been deeply coveted. The newly unveiled Jordan Wings Collection, however, is now offering two high-end remakes of classic sneaker styles that are handmade in Italy.

High-top and low-top sneakers will be offered from the Beijing exclusive drop, which includes limited-edition Air Jordan 1 High ’85 Wings and Air Jordan 1 Low ’85 Wings. All four iterations, ranging from sizes 3.5 to 18, were meticulously crafted with uppers made of three layers, alongside hand-painted edges. Three of the uppers are made of full-grain leather, while the fourth features hair-on-hide Italian leather.

There’s a number of exclusive design elements on each pair, too. The classic wings logo, for starters, is shown debossed on the collar overlay of the AJ1 High. Woven wings, MJ’s signature, and a limited-edition number are also featured on the tongues of the footwear. Satin and leather materials used for the insole are highlighted as two premium sock liners with a metallic wings logo. That same design is printed on the sole as well, plus you’ll receive four lace options with metallic gold aglets and the Air Jordan logo to swap out as you please.

Footwear isn’t the only thing the Jordan Wings Collection has to offer, though. The drop includes a variety of basketball-inspired streetwear apparel, such as a hoodie, varsity jacket, diamond shorts, and a tracksuit. Supple lambskin, cashmere blends, and premium fleece are all high-quality materials you can find in the range. The standout Jordan Wings net sweater is modeled after a nylon basketball net and was hand-stitched by Italian artisans over seven hours. Leather accessories, meanwhile, are inspired by the proportions of the Jordan Wings logo and made of fine calfskin.

The Jordan Wings Collection will launch exclusively in Beijing this March. Limited quantities of the Air Jordan 1 Highs will retail for $975 and the Air Jordan 1 Lows will go for $875. Visit Nike.com to learn more about the luxury assortment.
