Luke Grimes Plans to Frame His 'Yellowstone' Jacket
As Yellowstone fans said goodbye to the hit Western drama last weekend, the stars of the series made sure to take some souvenirs on their way out. At the time, there was no way to tell predict the future of Yellowstone beyond the season 5 finale—let alone if anyone was coming back for more action. We know that answer now. Kelly Reilly confirmed the news in an Instagram comment that the rumours of a forthcoming Beth and Rip spin-off are true. Still, there was always the chance that their final day on set was their last. So, the Yellowstone cast started grasping for mementos.
According to Reilly, the most important item she took from set was Beth’s lighter. “it’s my Beth keepsake,” she told Paramount in an Instagram video. So were a couple dresses that she bought and specifically wore on the show for Beth. The lighter was her main choice, though, even though her costar Cole Hauser mentioned that she could never use it correctly. “It’s only usually because of the wind,” she joked. “But I heard Paramount was going to gift me the Bentley so I’m just waiting for that to arrive.”
“I took my cowboy hat and my jacket,” Hauser said. As someone who owns a Yellowstone jacket (and one of Hauser's Free Rein coffee hats), I must admit that they can keep you mighty warm. Luke Grimes said that he kept his Kayce Dutton jacket as well, but he didn’t steal it. Yellowstone costume designer Johnetta Boone let him take it home. Grimes plans to frame it at some point after “making a little Kayce mannequin,” he joked. “It was just a life-changing thing."
Wes Bentley can’t say the same thing for his attire. The Jamie Dutton actor was very vocal about how challenging it was to play his character. Now, he’s ready to shed that persona and move on. “It probably would have been nice to take one of those tailored suits home with me,” Bentley said. “Jamie, he’s got such bad energy… It was such a challenge playing him. I was doubting I would really want to carry anything with me into my normal life. I’m kind of ready to drop it all.”
Other actors took home gifts with more sentimental value than on-set props or ranch costumes. According to Gil Birmingham, there’s no greater gift than the friends he made along the way. “The most precious thing that I walked away with is the experience with such an amazing group of people, and the opportunity to be part of television history,” the Thomas Rainwater actor said. His character ended up with the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, after all. It’s hard to compare winnings after a finale like that.
Next up for Yellowstone, creator Taylor Sheridan plans to finish out 1923. The much-anticipated second season drops on 23 February, 2025. The network will then gear up for the first Yellowstone spin-off set after the events of the finale, titled The Madison, which stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Lost’s Matthew Fox. Then, If Reilly is telling the truth about her own rumours of a spin-off series, maybe that Bentley isn’t out of her sights just yet.
