There's no-one quite like Lucy Worsley when it comes to taking a historical journey into fascinating characters of the past - which is why it's great news that she's announced a new TV show coming to BBC Two and iPlayer.

The historian and author took to instagram to share the exciting news, writing, "I'm finally allowed to tell you that a new series of LUCY WORSLEY INVESTIGATES is on its way! Coming to @bbctwo and @pbs soon."

In the show, Lucy Worsley explores the real story between four iconic chapters and characters from British history: the Gunpowder Plot, Bloody Mary, Jack the Ripper and William the Conqueror's invasion.

According to a release, Lucy will examine each case to follow the evidence and "uncover overlooked witnesses and victims, new heroes and villains while exploring how the mysteries unlock issues that speak to modern audiences." Themes will include how the media treated female victims as well as the political radicalisation of young people of the time.

"This series combines some of the juiciest episodes from British history with a real deep dive into the work historians do, interrogating the sources," Lucy said in the release. "I've learned so much from visiting the places where history happened and talking to experts about their work. And I know from series one that our viewers loved that too."
